Asus ZenFone 2!It is the phone that currently is in pre-launch overdrive. And well, you can understand the interest in the Asus Zenfone 2. The first Zenfone launched last year stunned people with the performance it delivered at a staggeringly affordable price. I personally use my Zenfone 5 much often compared to my iPhone 5S.
Its successor, The ZenFone 2 has been winning its share of applause with its design and its spec sheet (the world’s first smartphone with 4 GB RAM! ) Are you Kidding me!! 4GB RAM isn’t a normal thing for a phone. Can you get an idea on how its gonna rank in performance…Its going to be pretty fast!!
It is going to Exclusively Available on Flipkart.
And there's another thing that's new. This is the first outing for the updated Asus ZenUI, which builds upon Android Lollipop with a few features of its own. There's SnapView, which promises to keep private files separate from work files ("You don't need to have two phones any more," joked Asus chairman Jonney Shih at the launch, "unless they're Asus ZenFones").
On the front, the Zenfone 2 follows the design ethics of the Zenfone 5, which is not a bad thing at all, as I like the looks of that phone. You have the 5.5-inch full HD display, with three touch buttons beneath for back, home and multi-tasking, and at the base of the front is the shiny concentric pattern that is the trademark of the ZenFone series. It looked smart on the previous ZenFones and it looks smart here as well. The display itself seemed very good and comparable to the one we saw on the OnePlus One in terms of brightness and clarity.
This phone is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 quad core processor with PowerVR G6430 graphics chip, backed by (of course) 4GB RAM. This dual-sim smartphone supports 2G, 3G and 4G on the first sim, while only 2G networks are supported on the second sim. It also has other standard connectivity features, like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and NFC. The Zenfone range has seen a major jump in the battery capacity, from the 2,110mAh juice-pack of Zenfone 5 to the 3,000mAh powerhouse in Zenfone 2.
Taking a inspiration from Windows Phone, there's also a kids-only zone, while ZenMotion adds support for a few touch gestures. Shake it, for example, and an email will be closed and saved for later.
What's nice about ZenUI is that it isn't overbearing: most of the time this should feel like you're using a pure Android phone. Asus is also promising "ZenUI Instant Updates" to keep apps up to date.
The screen, as you should expect from a flagship phone, looks quite good! It sports a Full HD IPS display, and my research suggests that Asus' promise of a 178-degree wide viewing angle is true!
One more cool thing is that, Asus is providing a exciting range of colours to choose from: We’ve got Black, White ( As the basic options!) and also colours like Red, Gold and Silver ( to add a royal look to your ZenFone!) All these colours are finished in Brushed Metal
The ZenFone 2 boasts a resolution of 13 megapixels and an aperture of f/2.0, but the really interesting part is the low-light mode (Another inspiration from the Windows Phone!). It promises "400% brighter photos at night" without a flash. There's also a dual-colour Real Tone flash to give your subjects a warmer skin tone.
Selfie freaks will love the ZenFone 2, considering the phone does come with a 5.0-megapixel front facing camera. You can incidentally, take the back off to reveal the dual SIM slots and the memory card slot.(Similar to the ZenFone 5)
Final Verdict:The Asus Zenfone 2 is available now in select regions like China, Taiwan, and Europe, and will soon be releasing in India in the coming week. Looking at the specs and design it appears a pretty good contender to some high-end phones like the Samsung S6 or even the OnePlus One if it solves the Battery Issues faced in previous ZenFones!
In Taiwan, the top-end Asus ZenFone 2 model (ZE551ML) with 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM was launched at TWD 9,990 (roughly Rs. 19,900) while the ZenFone 2 ZE551ML (4GB RAM and 32GB of storage) at TWD 8,990 (approximately Rs. 18,000). The Asus ZenFone 2 will be launching in India on April 23.
